Since May 2008, Hansjörg is the Programme Director Lighting Design at Rose Bruford College. The BA (Hons) Lighting Design at Rose Bruford is the only specialist lighting design undergraduate programme in the UK, and has an excellent reputation for the quality and range of it's vocational teaching and learning environment. At Rose Bruford, Hansjörg is currently engaged in raising the programme's overall profile, and in the re-writing of all the programme modules to ensure it's continued success and further development.
Between 1996 and 2000, Hansjorg has been teaching as a visiting tutor at the Drama Department, Goldsmiths College. At Goldsmiths, he has build up a comprehensive and successful lighting design course at undergraduate level, and has introduced lighting workshops and lectures across the department’s postgraduate courses. Running alongside his teaching work, Hansjorg has been instrumental in initiating and overseeing the refurbishment of the department’s technical resources, culminating in the refurbishment of the 180 seat Goldsmiths Theatre, working closely with Roger Hennigan at White Light Projects on the installation of new ETC sensor dimmers, rewire to 16A circuits throughout, Unison and Strand lighting control systems and new communications and electrical flying facilities.
In 2006/07, Hansjörg worked closely with Creative Partnerships, a government funded programme to bring the arts into schools. He worked particularly closely with two schools in London, developing lighting based workshops and installations. These projects were undertaken collaboratively, working with pupils, teachers, and parents to create work that was inspired by their environment, and that aimed to transform that environment, and the people within it.
